Mozilla Flash & FreeBSD

Some notes for getting Flash to work with Mozilla on FreeBSD:

comp.unix.bsd.freebsd.misc: Mozilla Flash

http://akparadise.byethost33.com/freebsd/linuxpluginwrapper_how_to.txt : Linuxpluginwrapper HowTo Edit: This page, unfortunately, seems to have disappeared. I had it in my cache, but before saving it, I refreshed and now it is gone:-( If anyone has a copy, please feel free to send it along and I will archive it. Edit #2 : Found it! See here

Edit #3 : Here's another link:

PC-BSD FAQ's - Using Flash, realplayer and acroread with Firefox (Yeah, it's pc-bsd, but it still has some good FreeBSD info). I'm going to try this on my fresh PC-BSD install and I'll let you know how it goes.

The second link (http://akparadise.byethost33.com/freebsd/linuxpluginwrapper_how_to.txt) seems to point to an advertisement page.
Also, the first link points to a post dated 8 Sept 2005. Does anybody know if the instructions given will still work today with RELENG_6?

Thanks

Strange - I just tried it and it worked for me. It should be sending you to a text page. The instructions in the first link seem to be pretty RELEASE-agnostic, but I have to admit I haven't tried them. My vanilla FreeBSD box is a text-only box, while my graphical BSD is PCBSD. But I might try to see if I can get it to work. But then again, I can't even get Flash to work in Firefox on my Windows box!-(

Oh man, I just royally screwed up. I tried the .txt link and it worked fine. But then, like an idiot, I refreshed my view and boom - I got the ad:-( And, of course, lost the .txt file from my cache. I should've saved it off first. And I don't see it in the archive.org site either - double doh!

OK... so you have not tried on FreeBSD... (I have tried similar recipes found on various forums and postings and linked multiple libraries .2 to .4 to .cannot.take.it.anymore and nothing ever worked for me on FreeBSD. That's why I ask before trying again!)
But you say you use PCBSD. Have you tried on PCBSD? Do you have flash running in Firefox there? (or with any browser, for that matter)
I'm using FreeBSD but if I can get Flash to work on any variant I will immediatly switch to that! Flash and my USB infrared plug are the last two "desktop" things I can't get to work on FreeBSD. :-(

I have not tried it yet on PCBSD. I could've swore there was a PBI (the PCBSD installation file) that had Firefox Flash but I can't seem to find it now.

But I'm reinstalling with a new v1.0 PC-BSD and I will try to see if I can get it to work. Watch here for more developments.
